What to expect at your initial appointment:
Kids & Adults
1. History
First of all - welcome! I am so happy you're here.
When you book your appointment, you'll be asked for your email address where you'll be sent online intake forms.
At your initial appointment, we will delve into what brings you in & what you're experiencing. Whether you're experiencing acute or chronic pain, or you're looking to be proactive, you will be asked targeted questions to help narrow down what you're dealing with and how I can help you on your wellness journey.
2. Physical Exam
The information gathered in the history guides the physical examination. The physical exam includes palpation of joints and muscles, as well as performing range of motion, orthopaedic and neurological assessments.
I will use the history and physical exam findings to provide you with a comprehensive diagnosis and recommend a plan of management to suit your specific goals.
3. Report of Findings
I am extremely passionate about educating patients and empowering you with tools and knowledge to improve your overall wellbeing. This includes explaining precisely what was found in the physical exam and what is going on in your body.
We will discuss the treatment options together, taking into account the best current evidence, your specific goals, and my clinical experience.
Chiropractors are trained extensively to detect when something falls outside of our scope of practice and we are able to recommend alternatives when applicable.
4. Treatment
If time allows, you will also receive treatment on the day of the initial visit.
The extensive history and physical exam allows us to tease out the exact cause of pain or dysfunction in your body. Therefore, we can target the root cause rather than just the symptoms. Treatments may include a combination of spinal adjustments, joint mobilizations, myofascial release, percussive therapy, low-level laser therapy, acupuncture/needling, and various other techniques or modalities.
It is important to remember that you always have a say in your treatment plan. If there are particular interventions that you're not comfortable with, they will not be used. I use a variety of techniques aside from the chiropractic adjustments that we are known for. Patient preference is at the heart of the evidence-based model of care that guides my recommendations.
